OH MY GOD! How I remember this! One other person I remember playing with us on that day was Wayne Brockman. I don't remember the rest.
I wasn't worried about getting in trouble with the school, I more worried about what my Aunt was going to do to me! Thankfully, All I had to do was work in the store for a few weeks to pay back the $10!

Brian, I checked with my friend,a retired Latin teacher.

He says that in Latin (as in most languages) "the masculine prevails." Unless all graduates are female, your usage of the word 'alumni' is correct.

My friend adds that the hand-wringing about gender inclusiveness seems to be a case of political correctness gone awry.

Thanks for the info. I have some others I might take a look at when the time comes. Today, suddenly all is working. I just don't know why they (web host) won't communicate with me.
Roadrunner has been a pleasant surprise. I actually got the head guy for email, and he explained their process and said he could find no record of any complaints against this site. The IP address is clean, no problems from the spam blacklisters. Anyway, he is going to try and contact them and find out what exactly they received from RR to make them react as they did.

I did change the email address I'm using for my errors though.

Hi Brian,

Looks like it's time to dump your web host and your roadrunner email account (ouch)

My 2 cents (or less)
We've have had good luck with WestHost (http://www.westhost.com) They seem very responsive and they're not Canadian :) Comes with a nice web-based admin console and all kinds of beeps and whistles (Gallery, mysql, php, etc...). Examples of sites hosted by WestHost that friends of mine have put up include www.didjuneau.com and www.akla.org They have nothing but good things to say about them (wow, such praise and I don't even work for them).

With your email issue, you might try changing your email address to a gmail account (or yahoo or hotmail, etc) and forget about the roadrunner account :) I doubt google would call your web host to complain about spam. They're too busy counting their money. You can check gmail accounts using pop or imap so it will show up nicely in any reader you use (thunderbird, outlook, etc.) or use their web-based interface.

Your experience with Roadrunner seems to be about the norm. I haven't heard too many people raving about their service.

Anyway, moving large sites is never fun. Good Luck.

Cory was in the area a few years back and attended the Walworth Festival in the park. He was quite a dancing fool that night.
His brother Craig is married to my mom's best friend from school Robin (Winkler). They live locally and all of Robin's 3 children are Wayne Alumni (Cory, Sonyia, and Jacob Smith).
I will pass on the alumni website info to them and see if maybe we could all have a brush with "the great Cory English".
When I was in high school he visited our chorus after he was a dancer in the Samantha Fox music video for "I wanna have some fun". I remember being in awe that a "celebrity" was visiting us and had graduated from the same school that i was attending.

Normally I do not participate in these "blog things", but this time I MUST vent my frustration. Hopefully this will give you all something to think about and discuss. If your class DOES have a class reunion regularly or you DO participate in local events, please do not be offended as this is not directed towards you. First of all, Thank you Bob for mentioning the Alumni Banquet. Second... shame, shame, shame on MOST of you who are alumni of Wayne Central and belong to a class that graduated AFTER the 70's. Classes prior to 1980 seem to keep up on class reunions and the like. It seems once the 80's hit something happened and people no longer cared where they came from and who they grew up with. The Alumni Banquet has been a bust since 2004 (I apologize to those who DID attend)and it seems nobody bothers to put together class reunions any more (again with the exception of the classes 1979 and prior).
I can remember growing up listening to my mom talk about her class reunions and how excited she would be prior to going. As a young child I thought that was really cool that my mom still looked forward to seeing the people she went to high school with. I will admit, my mom is not the norm... because she graduated ahead of schedule, she attends both the 1972 class reunions (the ACTUAL year that she graduated) as well as the 1973 class reunions (the class she "should have" graduated with).
I have also noticed a SERIOUS lack of participation by the "younger groups" in local events having to do with alumni. Last weekend I attended a musical celebration of Mr. Pete Osterling's life. The celebration was at the country club in Ontario and was to benefit a memorial fund. I had a hard time finding people from "my generation". For those of you who were not there, it was a FANTASTIC night. I went with my grandmother (a member of Walworth High Alumni), and my mom. I saw many of the teachers and faculty from my high school days, the snacks were great and the music was amazing. If there is another "concert" I would encourage all who can to attend. Not only was it a fun evening, but the money that was charged for tickets STAYS in our community for another Wayne Central Alum to further their musical education.
I realize that we all have lives and are busy, but attending an alumni baquet once a year or once every couple of years SHOULD be a priority.
OK. I think that I have vented long enough. Thank you for listening ( or reading as the case may be). If anyone has suggestions as to new ways to encourage participation I would be interested in hearing about them. I can be contacted by email, telephone, or snail mail (US postal). At that time I think I was a freshmen, I was in the family car with my parent coming back from somewhere and as I looked to the back of the high school I saw the streak running like the wind I laughed so hard. Those were the days to remember.
