Walworth: Son of Roger Lewis Porray and Bessie Maude (Weeks) Porray, entered into God’s presence on December 1, 2017. Born on October 17, 1945, Ronald is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Judith (Welkley) Porray; his children; Rebekah (Paul) Loveless, Elizabeth (Brett) Whitnable, Sarah (Mikhail Sapozhnikov) Porray, and Benjamin Porray; Ron is also survived by his loving and precious sister, Barbara (Richard) Henry, who was always there for him and dedicated herself to helping in the caring for him the last weeks of his life; seven grandchildren, Payton and Logan Loveless, Alliyah, Destyne, Cyarrah, Samarrah, and Xander Whitnable. In addition, he leaves several nieces and nephews. Ron, a, diehard Yankees fan, became a member of the Wayne Central Varsity baseball team as a freshman. Later in his life he carried his passion for baseball into the job of JV coach for boy’s baseball and finally, girl’s varsity softball. Ron owned (almost too many to count) Yankee baseball paintings, pictures, jackets, shirts, t-shirts, and hats. Ron was also very passionate about teaching at Wayne Central, where he graduated in 1963. His teaching career was interrupted for a while as he served in the United States Airforce at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. After being honorably discharged, in 1972 he went home to Walworth, NY to return to teaching. Ron was able to procure a job at Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School, where he and Judy met and fell in love. The rest, as they say, is history. Ron was a dedicated family man and loved his grandchildren, taking his four granddaughters to dance and attending as many of his grandson’s sporting events as possible. Calling hours for Ron will be at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1961 Ridge Rd, Ontario, NY 14519, on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
