An alumni of Wayne Central and veteran of the show
The Music Man, having performed it once in High School and once with
Webster Theatre Guild as the role of Jacey Squires in the barbershop quartet. He has performed with various other theater groups such as RAPA, Neighborhood Acting Company (NAC),
Pittsford Musicals,
Everyone's Theatre Company (ETC),
Irondequoit Theatre Guild, Greece Performing Arts Society and
The Gatesingers Company, Ltd. With so many shows, his favorites include
Man of La Mancha,
Peter Pan and
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The experience has ranged from playing parts in a show, to working behind the scenes as director, publicity coordinator, producer, accompanist, sound & lighting, stage crew and usher. "The exciting thing about any show, whatever my role, is being able to make an audience laugh, cry or think. If someone is looking at their watch after the first half hour ... someone made a mistake."
As a graduate of St. John Fisher College, the original intent was to become a math teacher,
having completed all his course work and student teaching at East Rochester Middle School. However, in 1991, a temporary job at Xerox turned into something permanent, and a software engineering position seemed a bit more exciting with bigger pay. Another move to a smaller company proved to be a bad idea when the company folded in 2002 and left many unemployed. George is still looking
for that next job (
résumé), however, in the mean time he has enjoyed his freedom to experience different things, time for his biking hobby (on his Trek 7700 Hybrid 2001) and figure out what he wants to be when he grows up.
Aside from musicals and biking, he also volunteers his time at Lollypop Farm as a dog walker and a mentor trainer. Since 1997 he has worked at the Haunted Hayrides in Williamson. His odd jobs include piano tuning, roadie for AM Productions, pet-sitting and now .... vocal director for the High School musical. "To the cast of this show ... I was a townsperson when I first did this show, and I enjoyed it so much. I hope you take whatever part you have and find the fun, not in the role, but the team experience that will help you grow. There are two kinds of people in this world: Those that sit back and watch ... and those that are in the spotlight. It's your job to get on the stage and make a difference ... no one is going to do it for you, but if you give me the chance ... I'll help you start that journey."
